There are chocobos in FFVI. You are riding some just after...
:spoiler: you run away from Figaro Castle when Kefka raids it. There are also some stalls in towns where you can "rent" chocobos. I think there's one in South Figaro. |

Forget about moombas, go to FF9 and they have chocobos and the famous oglops. Now those are the coolest. I smell a thread coming on from this...
