My bro's first play through

I just recently bought FF7 off the PSN. I knew I wasn't really going to play it. I just got it just to have it. My hard copy got stolen a while back so I just went ahead and got it off the PSN.

Well now my brother has been watching me play FF13 and he really wants to give it a shot. I told him that maybe he should start with 7. That way he wouldn't think that all FF's are that way. (That's not to say that 13 sucked, I just don't feel that 13 would leave as big of impact as 7 would.)

I got him started on it and he's actually made a fair amount of progress. He just got out of that cave where you had to have chocobo to get to on Disc 1.

So now this brings me to the point of this thread.

What are some things he could miss out on if he's not paying attention? I know how to get Yuffie and Vincent so I'll hook him up on that. But I'm talking about hidden summons and stuff. Any stuff like that would be greatly appreciated.

The enemy skill materia in the shinra building, which is lost if he didn't take it before he left.
There is also an E-skill in upper junon which can be gotten anytime in the game.
The next e-skill is in the end of disc one... city of the ancients. which can also be gotten at anytime and the last one at the chocobo sage after you gotten airship or green chocobo+

point is, he will be missing out on early awesome magic without the E-skill.. but nothing missable except the last two attack shadow flare and pandorax box but that is late late in the game.

Shadow flare from either Ultima weapon and it is cast on the member who made the killing strike or safer sephiroth, and pandoras box which is gotten from the first zombie dragon in the northern cave on the right path. a one time only skill.

also the stuff on the ship after junon though nothing important you can get a free ALL materia there.
Neo Bahamut is missable and if you miss that you miss Bahamut zero. B.Zero can also only be gotten if you get all the huge materia. if you miss them though they can be dug up from bone village on umm disc 3 ..

Kujata can be somewhat hard to spot as it is floating in the forest (you enter from bone village) before the valley of the ancients. Can be gotten the moment you get tiny bronco. it flies around so find a spot you know it will appear and just mash x until you get it.

ALexander can be tricky to get so get a guide for that.. to hard to explain the paths.

Other than that I can't think of that much else.


*edit : also the stuff you steal from the turks. also on the huge materia train mission you can steal a warrior something from the big robot bird. only chance you get for that armor. Barrets ultimate weapon is missable as you need him in your party when you climb the stairs to fight Hojo. grab the weapon and go back and switch him out for any member you want and save.
