FFVII on Windows 7 - please help

Hello. I am new to these forums. I loved playing through FF7 a few years ago. I just dusted off my old pc game and tried to boot it up on my new computer (windows 7). I apologize if there are already threads about this, but I really could use some help. Does anyone know of any patches for windows 7 or anything that could make it work. i do not own a ps1 or anything so this is my only option. I would love to play through it again. Thanks in advance for your time if anyone has any info.

I also tried to run FF7 on my pc(Windows Vista Home Premium) and it didn't work. The screen went completely black and the system crashed. I had to push the RESET button to get my computer to work again. I tried several patches that I found on the internet, but nothing worked. So, I play the Playstation version using an emulator(PSX) and I have no problems. I don't know if it works on Windows 7, but it works great on Vista.
