Poll: What's your opinion on a remake?
Excellent Idea! I wanna see FF7 world in a new view!
Bad idea! Remakes are done to make the original look rusty and bad.

Remake or No Remake?

RE: Remake or No Remake?
Assassins Creed and FF are completely different though. The best FF titles are continually interesting and enticing throughout, with odd little twists every now and then to keep the player on their toes. Assassins Creed on the other hand was incredibly repetitive in terms of gameplay to the point that the player loses interest in the plot.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
aye.. it wasn't Assassins creed's plot that was the problem. I loved the plot of that game and found it very interesting. I still play the game from time to time also. it is a fun game as long as you just play one,two hours at a time.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
How could you also remember that an overly-complicated plot didn't work with FFXII.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
For me, the plot was not the major problem in FFXII. If anything.. that plot needed more, imo.

Again like in assassins creed the problem lied in the repetive "gameplay" and the space in between the plot. Far to long time was spend between the scenes, that one would simply lose track of the plot and forget what you were doing and why. Also the character library was probably one of the most boring one, ever to have been seen in a FF. Heck, to me even the characters from FF8 seemed more interesting.. And I didn't find the characters in FF8 very interesting at all. >_>

That could also just be my taste that comes in play, as I've noticed that in any FF that strive for the more "realistic" character design, I have found them to be extremly boring and empty. Almost as if the realistic approach completly rob the characters from depht, spirit and life. Then again.. The real world IS boring..

RE: Remake or No Remake?
Do you ever wonder if the people working on the FF games log on to these sites and actually read our criticisms of the games and try to make them better?
Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

RE: Remake or No Remake?
severe wishful thinking. SE doesn't even bother reading their own forums, let alone a fan made forum.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
Bunch of idiots then aren't they.
How many great ideas get talked over on various forums and they can't even get a decent title out.
Talk about an untapped resource.
If I worked at SE then I would definitely use ideas talked about in the forums. I mean we're the one's who play the games, they should really think about fan input when they make them.
I would at least look at the sites to see what people think about the games, instead of just sending it to professional game's reviewers and taking their opinion as what the general masses would think.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
There lies the problem though, you got people who like inovation, people who are conservative, people who like a mix of the old with the new, people who couldn't give a rat's ass. It is virtually impossible to please all fans in a single game, there will always be whiners and bitchers who complain about one thing or another and while I'm sure some of the devellopers do read some fan input, they just don't make their games based on this because of the aforementioned reason.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
Yeah what I meant was that they should pick out some of the best ideas and not try to please everyone, coz that's impossible.
Obviously they should stick to the general concept of whatever game they are making, but they should also take into account what people say about their previous efforts and work on trying to fix that aswell.
Coz we don't want them selling us sh1t again.

RE: Remake or No Remake?
Im happy with the re-release on PSN, the only thing Square could improve with a remake would be graphics but i think the visuals is what i find still charming and makes the game playable all over again.
I know that there is big pressure on Square from fans to remake FFIV but it dont think it would be a significant enough of a step to bring in enough new fans to make financial sense.
