Immediate Changes
Looks like it's time to clean house again. All staff except for Red have been removed. I am going to redo as much of the site as I can. It's obvious to me that this sites failure can't get worse so I might as well go for it. I am after all the only guy here that knows what to do.

My biggest forum now has 5,000 posts per day. It's not my first success either. FFF is failing and the reasons don't really matter imho. I am past blame. I am going to just do what needs to be done with no regrets or apologies. The "experiment" the past 6 months should show everyone that changes are going to be needed here.

Is there any guarantee that FFF can do better? Not at all. I am not even hopeful but I do have some tricks up my sleeve that I think could work in the sites favor. Once I have altered the site enough I am going to send out an email to all users. Hopefully that will be a start of getting this site back to snuff. I will do some SEO work hoping to get us ranked again too. We were #1 for "final fantasy forum" for a while but were overtaken and then removed when I parked the site.

I can probably make a huge post about various things but F it. I am just gonna make changes and move forward.

Thanks.

RE: Immediate Changes
I'm all for everything you've said so far. I don't think FFF will ever reach 5000 posts per day, but I've no doubt it can do better.
However, it would be really useful to get the RP Preps section back (everything gets cluttered otherwise). The RP rules aren't pinned anymore either.

RE: Immediate Changes
I wouldn't want to get 5000 posts per day on here. Bigger than it is now is fine with me though :] Good luck in all this Def.

RE: Immediate Changes
The RP section wouldn't function very well without the rules in place there, though. Between people Godmodding, controlling each other's characters and killing each other off, no roleplay would succeed.

RE: Immediate Changes
Doesn't every roleplay have a master? That's who should create the rules for each roleplay. It's not the site that is creating the RPs so it's not FFF that should control the rules for them.

RE: Immediate Changes
I kind of agree with Omniscient there. I think that the owner of the role plays should take responsibility for the enforcement of the rules of their role plays. After all, IF there comes a day where the membership of this forums does reach a point where 5000 posts flow in every single day (Sounds rather scary though), the number of role plays would probably be at high, and for Moderators to actually eye every single role play for infringements of the rules... It's going to be a ridiculously tedious job.

While one may argue to the usage of the 'Report' function, there's no denying the possibility of users abusing this function. Thus my point, with the entrusting of the rules-creation and enforcement to the owners of the role plays, we literally create a hierarchy there.

It beings with the owners laying down the rules. If they omit several rules that are crucial at later stages, too bad. Then..

Users break rules > Owners reports > Moderators attacks

Of course, the probability of the owners abusing their authority remains.

Owners abuses authority > Users reports > Moderators attacks

Ultimately, it'll all boil down to how responsible everyone is. (If the Moderator breaks the rules... I'll go eat something delicious. Just being random) FFF would still have to play a role, no matter what, though. There is a limit to how much the owner is able to enforce his rules. He can lay them down, but the punishments he dishes out in response to errors made is limited.

Thanks, Devil's Sorrow, though.

RE: Immediate Changes
I would find no enjoyment in participating in a roleplay in which my characters could be dictated without any say from myself, killed off without any say from myself, where events are controlled by a single person who might take it upon themselves to decide they don't like something/someone and kick it/them out of the roleplay, or where godmodding could take free reign. What's to say the owner will enforce their own rules right? What about favouritism? If their buddy breaks a rule, they might do nothing, whereas they might go out of their way to find a reason to kick a person they don't like for reasons outside the roleplay from the roleplay.
I can see I'm outnumbered here though, and Defender, you seem to have your mind made up no matter what input we give...

RE: Immediate Changes
That's true.
If the forum had a massive increase in posting, then the mod's wouldn't be able to check every RP that was ongoing (assuming more than one was active)
The creator of the RP should enforce the rules, but there really should be a general rule for all the RP's like Kae made when we first started the RP section.
If the person creating an RP wants to add extra rules specific for their story, then that's up to them and they should enforce those rules.
However I do think the mod's should have final say over whether someone is breaking the general rules of the RP section.

As to Prophet's suggestion that some people are irresponsible, may I draw your attention to Whacko's posts on GW2.
He made a complete hash of the storyline, annoyed everyone and didn't even appear to have read any other posts.
This concluded in his being kicked out of the RP, which was a 100% improvement straight away.
So I think that if the people involved in the RP are generally trying to stick to the story and want to enjoy how it plays out, if someone mucks it up then all those envolved get pissed off with it. So basically, everyone's protecting the story and acting as a mini-mod.
Atleast that's how it's been playing out for GW2.
