I didn't realize there was news out about this game at all, but just stumbled across a trailer on another forum.
Otherwise known as 'Project Rapture' or 'Final Fantasy XIV Online', 'tis an MMORPG to be released in 2010 for the PS3 and PC. That's about all I know for now, but I have a few links.

I've never played FFXI b/c i wasn't old enough to pay the online subsciption but now I'm old enough to have a job and pay it off so i might try it this time around.

I'm in the same boat as Tidus actually.

Now that I have an extremely powerful computer, and an opportunity to pay for the game, I'd like to try it. Although, I still absolutely HATE the idea of paying for a game after I've already bought it. It's a scam.

meh, mmos take WAY too much time if you want to actually get anything done. and im not really down for monthely fees either. i doubt ill try it :(

MMOs are a poison, if anything it should be cosiddered a drug. They draw people in with the social aspect of the game only so that those people will find themselves heavily adicted to the games later on. Now some of you may not have an adictive personality but many others do and these games exploit this. Aside from being adictive, they're also a huge timesink, making you have to spend hours on end to accomplish anything.

But there's always the social aspect right? you can play your favourite RPG with your friends right? haha don't make me laugh man, 80% of the people I encountered on both FFXI and WoW were whiners, little kids or people who definately weren't looking for a friend. I had a female toon on WoW and you wouldn't believe how many mariage requests I got, it's fucking pathetic if you ask me. You wonder sometimes why I'm such an ass to people on paltalk? well there's your reason, having to deal with whiners, 10 year olds, illiterates and lovesick faggots for 3 years while trying to have fun on a game makes you that way.

And just when you think you're finally done with these games, they add new content, be it a full expansion or just some new features, they always leave you with a sense of unacomplishment in the end. And then there's also the cheaters, while not so intrusive on WoW there have been times where I wanted to simply quit FFXI because of RMTs ruining everything, it was simply insane and whenever you contact or report one to SE they don't do jack sh1t about it.

I could probably keep going but I don't wanna sound like a whiner either so I'll leave it at that and on a final note, I'll just say to those contemplating on getting into MMOs, try it if you want it so badly but trust me, you'll regret it in the end.

Like Red, I'll probably try it, main reason being I didn't try XI. I probably will have a feeling of being exploited with the monthly fee... But I can always stop playing.

I would like to try XI but I resent having to pay to play. If I've already forked out some moola to buy the game in the first place, why would I continue to fork out just to play it?
And I think Dede's right, it shouldn't be included in the rest of the series coz it's online.
It should just be FF-online, one and two.
I think it's basically just a rip off. Still looks fab though.
