RE: Which Game Had A Sadder Storyline?
Both of them had a pretty sad story line.. though not the kinda sad you might be thinking of. More like Sad.. and pathetic.
Tip of the day. If you wanna spark some kind of discussion, maybe you should make you posts longer by.. I don't know .. make a list for both games about the sad parts and compare them to eachother.. Might also help you decide >.> And to be nice I will say, that out of FF8 and FF10. Then FF10 had the more "tragic" story I guess. Since there is nothing tragic in FF8's "story". atleast nothing I manage to find. EDIT: I also think this thread might be in the wrong section. ![]() ![]() |

RE: Which Game Had A Sadder Storyline?
Neither, VI.
Poor Celes, when the WoR begins. (especially if you screw up with Cid D:) Poor Shadow, in the dreams. Poor Cyan, just... poor Cyan. Poor Terra, just... poor Terra. etc etc. [/FFVI fanboyism] ![]() "'Woof,' he says... Do I look like a woofer?" ~ Kefka "My life is catnip in your pile. RE: Which Game Had A Sadder Storyline?
Except neither of those was really sad. >__>
I was actually expecting VII to be in here, tbh. With Aeris' death and all. ![]() "'Woof,' he says... Do I look like a woofer?" ~ Kefka "My life is catnip in your pile. Ante up!" ~ Setzer "In this world are many like me who've killed their human owners. Don't forget that." ~ Shadow |

RE: Which Game Had A Sadder Storyline?
I'd say neither is sad whatsoever. Everything falls into place in both games. While VIII had its moments with Squal and Rinoa, they ended up pretty well in the end so maybe Laguna with Raine's death could count as something sad but that happened years before the actual start of the story so it loses its sentimental value once this is found out. Then there's all the girls who are falling in love with Squal but that's pretty cliché in almost any RPG so that doesn't count for much either.
FFX has nothing sad either. Everything falls into place as well and everyone reconciles with their respective past and destinies. Tidus vanishing was a fucking relief to me but for those FFX fanboyz out there he can come back at the end of the sequel so there's nothing sentimental about his departure in the first game. Something sad and sentimental is a matter of personal opinion and is largely affected by experience. When you've seen important storyline characters die in several games for a good while it doesn't exactly have a huge impact on you anymore. Aerith's death came as a complete surprise to me as I virtually did no research on FFVII before I bought and played it and seeing that it's one of the first actual RPGs I've ever played it came as quite a shock. I've had my tear jerkers as well during games like Xenogears and the like but I can't really say I ever cried more over a death of a fictional character than Aerith at that time. |
