The worst hero/heroine of FFX and FFXII

Ok I want honest opinions, who was worst?

Tidus or Vaan?

Yuna or Ashe?

Personally, I think they all sucked.
Tidus is modelled on Meg Ryan; Yuna is badly voice acted, but not altogether awful; Ashe is forgettable and Vaan is a human version of Zidane in IX but without the charm.

Tidus - pretty bad character. Annoying, poor dialogue, poor voice acting most of the time (but has his moments). Nonetheless his story is fairly well told.

Vaan - somewhat lifeless, but not really that bad of a character. He definitely doesn't come across as the "hero," but I don't think he's supposed to. Just because he's the first character you get control of doesn't mean he's the main protagonist. I'd rather have the character be weak and in the background, than in the forefront and annoying the hell out of me.

Vaan > Tidus. But I won't say Vaan is a better "hero," because Vaan is not the hero of FFXII. Although I guess you could perhaps argue that Tidus isn't the hero of X.

Now for the girls... it's much more clear cut.

Yuna absolutely SUCK BAWLS. I'm sorry, but she is just one of the worst characters ever. Even on mute, her dialogue is incredibly lame. She is probably the worst FF heroine I have ever played as. Worse than Rosa, Reina, and definitely not as good as Celes. Even worse than Aeris, who I think sucks also. Yuna's acting is some of the most notoriously horrible, but just her general lack of vigor or any kind of emotion is supremely annoying. "But she's got the weight of the universe on her shoulders, wouldn't you be downtrodden as well?" Blah blah blah. This is a poor argument because even if this is what they were going for with her character, it's way too exagerrated. Yuna starts out pretty good actually. She has a young, shy, mildly happy, yet confused persona about her. It's very appealing actually. But then she just becomes a brick wall of boredom by the end of the game.

Ashe, I think is actually a good character. She could definitely be a lot better, but if you don't get too picky, she at least does a nice job blending in with the rest of the cast. I wouldn't say Ashe is great by any standard, but I think she's a fairly strong character, even as the heroine. I don't dread Ashe when she comes on scree like I would Yuna. Ashe leaves me wanting to see more out of her most of the time, but she's still interesting to listen to. I don't have to hit the mute button when she gives a speech. Her acting is pretty good in my opinion, she just gets some crappy dialogue.

Yuna's voice is in the top 10 of annoying voices for me. But her story makes her. Same goes for Tidus.

Vaan, like Ephemeral said, is a charmless version of Zidane, who i dislike anyway. Apart from that, not much of a character.

Personally, I don't get Ashe. Like Red said she's fairly strong, but like Red also said, she blends in with the rest of the cast, and that's why i don't understand her. A strong character should stand out I think. However, apart from that, i have nothing bad to say about her.

Whilst I am currently making a video on how annoying Tidus is, I have to give the vote to Vaan. The only reason I'm not making a video for Vaan is because there are hardly enough cutscenes to do so. Tidus's flaws are obvious, whilst Vaan's are more subtle and more subject to opinion.

Vaan is so boring, and somehow he's the lead. The plot fails to be centered around him, something Tidus shares in common (despite calling it "my story"). His voice acting isn't as bad as Tidus's, but conisdering the quality of the voice acting in XII, its horseshit. And if you look at a picture of his voice actor too, he looks so lame.

Vaan had no relationships with any of the characters, besides a token one with Penelo and a younger/bigger brother thing with Baltheir which has nothing on the Wakka/Tidus version. Despite Tidus's flaws, he makes an effort with each character and has a relationship with each, whether we like it or not. Think of it this way, if Vaan was left alone with Ashe, Basch or Fran, conversation would be very awkward. :P

Yuna and Ashe I like a lot. I've recently come to realise that Yuna has a few flaws, but I still like her a lot. On the contrary ive come to realise Ashe is cooler than I first thought. Because of Vaan's pissweakness, she has to take the slack of the story and I think she does it well enough. She's the classic vengeful character, who fights and inner battle to live and let live. They're always good characters and she does a pretty job.

Vaan I like. And also he wasn't supposed to be the main character anyway. I believe the first main character choice was Basch. Though I don't know how late in the development this change was made so....

I wish it was Basch. Would've made people dislike the game even more though I think. He's 38, and that's quite old.

At least he had more backstory than Vaan Ratslame.

It was very Shakespearean of them to make the protagonist a debatable subject. Some say Vaan, some say Basch, and some say Ashe. I think it's perfectly alright that people feel differently and that there isn't a definitive protagonist, although I feel like it's pretty obvious that Basch takes the majority of that role and that Vaan does not.
