Build up Steiner without doing much

Ok, please bare with me on this one as I cant remember the exact locations but will describe as much as I can so that you lovely people who know the game in and out will get what I am talking about.

Straightaway I would just like to say that I am remembering this from 10 year ago and I havent read or heard of it anywhere else although more than likely it may be posted by others and elsewhere in more detailed FAQ's or Walkthroughs

I remember building Steiner up really quickly on in the game to a high level by doing the following. You will need

Steiner
Blood sword (The one that gives you Health from taking others health in battle)
Autofire Joypad (You cant do the following without it)
rubber band

I think the rest of the party have been captured or are seperated, you are in either a castle or prison, when you are Steiner you will be fighting alone (just remembered, you start of in a Cage and have to swing it, hope that helps) and baddies will be coming from both sides of you (they will be human looking characters, like guards or something) anyway stand in the central of the screen and let them come at you, do a few fights to make sure that you have a high enough level that when the baddies take life of you when it is your turn, you take enough back (with the blood sword) that you dont die when they attack again.

Once you think you are at a high enough level for your sword to keep you topped up in health with powerful hits, put on the autofire and put the rubber band onto the action button so as to keep it pressed down.

Now switch of your telly and go and do something else for a couple of hours, come back and he should be a high level.

I think you can only do it at this point as I cant remember any other levels where the enemies come at you while you are standing still, usually they are activated by you moving.

sorry for the length of this but I wanted to make sure I got everything covered.

Sorry to break it to ya, but I've seen this on other places. Still great for those who didn't know.

And if you have a controller with aurofire and some rubber bands you can do this anywhere. well almost. just set it up so your characters run in a circe on the world map and so on. I use this trick in the forest at the start of the game when you're with zidane only.. and outside of Lindblum is a great place as alot of the enemies are dragons. So set it up there and let it go a few hours will earn you a 9999 hp slayer freya as soon as she learns dragon crest.

That sucks. You're supposed to play the game. If I wanted to level up without effort, I'd go play FFXII. That's a game you leave on for hours and ignore. Don't turn the others into it for god's sake. Jeez, now the next time I'm playing IX I'll end up doing that stupid trick.

How do heal your party if you are using the autofire on the action button as the first option in battle is Attack. Are there other weapons that steal Health??

nah you just have to check up on the in the beginning once in a while. it's not as bulletproof as the steiner trick, but it does the work for a whole party.
