I thought the plot was weak and how it followed was slugish at times. Keenau Reeves was actually pretty good as the alien. No emotion, looks like he's in a daze. Pretty much how he is in real life. This was one movie I could have waited for DVD.

I saw that a while ago and I was so disappointed. The plot was, well... pointless. -Alien arives...Alien leaves."

RE: Film Talk
I guess you two have no idea that this is a remake of a film from 1951 and it is based off a book ? Perhaps if people weren't so close minded they would see that it actually is a pretty good flick.

I watched Shooter last night,FINALLY, and I must say, OMFG! Could they have been any more obvious in their political propaganda ? That film was totally aimed at Bush the war in Iraq. Cool flick tho but ye gods total propaganda.

No I know it was a re-make from 1951 and it was a book. I saw the original two days after watching this and there was no need for a re-make. I was just disappointed in the dialouge and the plot. It had potential to be a good film but no good. Its not about being closed minded. I went into this fully aware what i was going to see. The reports i was hearing were mixed but i didn't care. It had my intrest from the beginning when I first saw the preview for it when I went to see The Dark Knight. But once i started watching the movie I was able to see that it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. Every movie i go to see or I watch I always give it the benift of the doubt whether i like the preview for it or not.

I liked taken. I mean it wasn't amazing or anything. The story was predictable and it was your typical action movie. But Liam Neeson holds it up with his acting, his badassness, and how awesomely he fucks sh1t up. It's entertaining.

I'd give it a solid 7/10

RE: Film Talk
easy for me.

1 - The Color Purple, this was such an epic film, whoopies portrayal or how the african americans lived during this period was astounding and to this day is still some of the greatest acting I have ever seen. A must see for all generations.

2 - Tombstone, an incredibly awesome western film, Kurt Russel at his finest.

3 - The Matrix - part 1 only. This film blew me away when I first watched it, 10 years later I still enjoy watching it once a year. The whole concept and ideas behind the story were and still are some of the best creative thinking of the last 50 years.

4 - Higher Learning - Omar Epps, Laurence Fishburn, Tyra Banks and Michael Rappaport acted so brilliantly this film moved me in ways most other films never could, it really opened my eyes to how bigoted and prejudice people really are.

5 - American History X - Very similar to Higher Learning in a lot of ways and it's point was pretty much the same as well, it didn't have the impact on me the way HL did but this movie was just fuckin awesome. Edward Norton became one of my favorite actors with this film.

So there's my top 5 films although there are so many others that I absolutely love I had to think which were the first 5 films of any genre that came to mind as being incredible film works ? Those were the ones. However I feel that one film in particular should and does deserve an honourable mention : The Dark Knight , this film set a whole new standard for it's genre, I will never be able to look at a comic book movie in the same way again due to how amazing this movie was, everything else just seems sub-par now.

My Top Five

1. George Lucas' Empire Strikes Back: This was the film that made you think well maybe the rebels are gonna lose...BAD

2. Neil Simons' Brighton Beach Memoirs: I just love this film its one of the first Dramadys I actually liked.

3. Wes Cravens' A Nightmare on Elm Street: I thought this was the most original horror film of its time. When people were worried about Jason or Leather face coming for them, Freddy would get you when you were sleep. That's just sick.

4. Zack Synaders' Dawn of The Dead: Besides him being a close personal friend of mine is was pleasently impressed with what he did. I was thinking he is going to screw this up one of the better George A. Ramero Dead movies. But he did a damn good job. That and I liked the cast he had a few unknown's mixed with well known actors.

5. John Boormans' Hope and Glory loved this flim that was set during WWII a boy growing up in a time of war.

RE: Film Talk
1. Brotherhood - A South Korean war film set in the Korean war. It's similar to Saving Private Ryan in terms of visuals, but has a massive underlining story of two Brothers torn apart by war. Touching film.

2. Gladiator - Beautifully made film. Has two of my favourite actors starring in it, and is set in Rome. Which I love.

3. This Is England - A bit of an Indie film here. Set in England in the 1980's it tells a tale of a young 9 year old boy who gets into a skinhead gang. Basically, the gang he gets in with are just fashion skinheads and don't believe in all the White Supremacy, but soon they meet someone whose just come out of prison and it all turns sour. The kid ends up siding with the real Skinhead and the climax of the film really makes you feel for the characters. Amazing story, based on the directors life.

4. Origin: Spirits of the past - Now, I love Anime. This one was a bit of a weird film for me. It seemed so short, and a bit muddled up but it has so much charm I fell in love with it. The music, the animation, the characters all beautifully done.

5. Now, I'm having a hard time thinking of what I can put here. I've seen so many films that have touched me. I'm going to have to go for Country For Old Men. Loved the book, and the film sticks pretty much to the book, which is rare these days. The actors were wonderful and made the film what it is, especially the main two.

Super Sheep-Lickin' Good.
