RE: FF4 DS is out today.
Is it a "Buy" game or a "Borrow from your friend" game?

RE: FF4 DS is out today.
The most noticeable difference in gameplay is the difficulty.
Seriously, the bosses are sooooo much harder, I'm about to fight the first boss in the Giant. Ugh, this should be fun. >.>
I never used to bother with it, but Slow is actually a very useful spell against bosses in this. Plus it gives Rosa something to do in boss fights if nobody's missing HP. =p

The other differences are the Namingway sidequest and Whyt, they're the main things I notice. (Aside from graphics and voices, ofc).

I noticed the Whyt on a review by GameTrailers.

RE: FF4 DS is out today.
Got this game on my R4 (Flashcart) as soon as it was available.. And so far, very nice game!

Reminds me of all those hours I spent on the original game!

I'm very happy that most of the songs are unchanged too~

Here are some quick review stats for this game.

Electronic Gaming Monthly - B
Famitsu - 35 of 40 (9,9,8,9)
GameSpot - 9.0 of 10
GameTrailers - 9.2 of 10
IGN - 8.7 of 10
Nintendo Power - 9.0 of 10

I know I'm only allowed one signature...
I'll get rid of one of them after I figure out which one I like more ><

RE: FF4 DS is out today.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the augments, they're a pretty big change.
You can get character's unique abilities (Edward's Bardsong, Palom and Porom's Twincast, Yang's Kick etc) after they leave and give them to other characters, the more augments you give a character that's gonna leave, the more augments they'll give you, and the better they'll be.
i.e, If you don't give Tellah any augments, then after Zot all you'll get is Recall, but if you give him 1 you'll get Recall and Last Stand (doubles Defense in crit HP), two gets you those and Fast Talker, reduces casting time.
You can also get a few from the actual story, or just lying around. Each of the four fiends drops one, but you have to find them.

Oh yeah, and I don't remember if the old versions did this, but did Tellah and Fusoya used to suck THIS much!?

Some of Tellah's stats actually go DOWN on level up, and Fusoya's stay exactly the same no matter how much you level him up.
...Not that I'm complaining or anything, Rydia and Rosa are better than them anyway, just wondering. =3

Yeah, I'm loving the 'auto-potion' ability right now!!!
Even though it must be the most basic ability you can have, it's really nice when mosnters/boss only do about 100-150 damage to you at any one time.

RE: FF4 DS is out today.
I've taken a gamefaqs combo. =D

Counter + Attract + Kick

Counter uses whatever ability is on top of the ability list of the character who has it (so it's usually attack) when that character is hit. If you put Kick on top of their abilities, they'll use Kick whenever they're attacked. Attract makes all monsters target that character. It's great for level whoring, and trying to get these damned Rainbow Puddings and tails. >.>

I'm up to the final dungeon, about to go final-equipment hunting. Ugh, Dark Bahamut's gonna be a bitch. >.<
