I'm not sure if the thread belongs in another place but I'm making this.
Anyway this is all about our favourite spers and Summons form the Final Fantasy.
Even if you changed your mind about your favourite Esper or Summon then put it down.
Me first.
I like Bahumut. Frikking big demolition tank destroying anything.

And to be on topic.. Espers in FFXII suck.. End of story.

none, Summons have been utterly worthless since FFVII and I honestly doubt they will get any better anytime soon, in terms of design I like Yojimbo the best, the rest are too generic and stereotyped, the many incarnations of Bahamut are just laughable, he looks like a fucking christmas tree in FFX. Espers are more of the same, eyecandy at best and nothing else, I'd say they are even a liability in battle cause they act so random. In terms of design I'd go for Adramelech, same reason as summons, the rest are too generic if you ask me, and he represents my personal zodiac sign to boot.

In all fairness, the summons from FFXII looked pretty but they sucked. You could still die with one out. So what good was that? There were several extra ones but what's the point if you're better than the summon.... your just hurting yourself. Ifrit might have taken away 4000 on the final hit or so, but each of my characters by the end of the game take away 4000+. I see no point in using espers except for the pretty cut scenes.

Bahamut in X doesn't look like a christmas tree Naj. He's the wrong colour for a start. Unless you have a seriously depressing xmas tree where you are.
Espers were a waste of time in XII. I got them, but didn't use them although I did like the way that Mathius looked, but that was it.
The only time you need to use an esper is when you need Belias to open a door for you. That's it. Pathetic.
I'm hoping that the eidolons in XIII will be better. I'm already loving the way Shiva looks for XIII. But then again she always manages to look pretty spectacular in all the FF.

Oh come on Eph he looks rediculous in X, maybe a christmas tree is a little far fetched but he's just too colourfull. I know he's supposed to be the king of dragons but he doesn't need to look that majestic, just a badass dragon like in the PSX titles would have been more than sufficient. I honestly preffer subtlety over that over-the-top design he had in FFX.

That was another thing that was a bit off. FFXII didn't use MOST of your traditional summon names. They went really out there with some of them. They need to stick with the basics, the common threads in all the final fantasy's. Ex. cid, chocobos, and summon names. But from time to time change is good but Ifrit = Fire. Shiva = Ice. And so on. Don't fix what isn't broke.

Well the Espers in FFXII are connected to FFtactics. just like it's supposed to be.
Since the espers you get in FFXII are the main bosses in tactics.

I know it's already been said, but how the hell does someone think that a 'Final Fantasy Summons' thread belongs in a Final Fantasy XII section? Lol.
I rarely rely on summons. I enjoyed using their Overdrives in FFX on Bosses, but I rarely used them in 8 and 9, a little in 7, and never in 12. I did use them heaps in 4 and 6 though.
My favourite by design would be... Odin. :)
Apparently they are a plot device in XIII, so that will be interesting.

When I first saw Bahamut in FFX when my boyfriend was playing it, I asked him: "Did you have that kind of toy when you were a child?" Seriously, he looks like a toy for little boys. ;P

It makes no sense.. You have to have a steering wheel on it for it work properly.
